Good Talent for a Realtor: Picking Locks

Yesterday we were again looking at "the old house". While Aaron and I conversed in the kitchen, the kids were busy inspecting every inch of the upstairs. Closet doors were opened and closed, and both Leah and Ben helped to matt down the carpet further.

Leah came running into the kitchen at one point, doing her goofy giggling, "Ben's gone!" I just figured they were playing. Riiiight.

About five minutes or so later I hear some wimpering coming from somewhere, and all of a sudden I realize I haven't actually seen Ben for a while. Realtor Dave and I start checking rooms, and find a bedroom door closed...and locked.

We called his name, but heard no answer. The door actually had a keyhole in the knob, so I tried all six of the keys left in the kitchen. No dice.

And then Realtor Dave got out a card from his wallet. After a few seconds of jimmying, the lock popped, and upon opening the door we saw Ben against the back wall. Not crying, just staring at us. With a full diaper.

Realtor Dave: "Well, no kidding. It was scary!"

(1) So does "old" mean the house from 1968? Einstein did say the passage of time was relative.

(2) Was Ben just upset that he was 12 years too young to be in Salem's Youth Dinner theatre "The Case of the Missing Youth Choir" so he did the toddler version?

(3) Did Lyz have any caveties or other issues identified in her dentist visit today?

(4) Did Aaron wear sweatpants to the house inspection?

Soooo many loose threads in this blog! Where is the sense and sensibilty in all this?

So is this house out now cause of the tramatic memories it will cause?

If you end of taking it, I'm sure Leah will remember the "fun" place to put Ben again.

And now you can go back and see what the house looks like with snow....

Oh dear, poor Ben! Serenity had an experience like that in her younger days.. There was no hope of picking the lock though, my dad had to get a ladder and climb in the window to get her! Kids, oy.

How scary for him! Quite the memory to bring up and embarrass him with his future girlfriend though ;0) Cute story! Also funny that the realtor had to pick the lock. ha ha.
