I rarely verge into politics on this blog, but I saw this article on Facebook this morning, and oh, maybe being cooped up inside during a blizzard has skewed my perception, but it seems that the expectations for President-Elect Obama may be a *tish* high.
Along with reversing global warming, which is now a "ticking-time bomb", here are a few other things that are on his plate, starting in January:
1. Restore the economy, ending the looming recession.
2. Pull all US troops out of the Middle East and simultaneously establish an Iraqi republic.
3. Eliminate corporate greed and corruption in America.
4. Eradicate racism.
5. Quit smoking and become a role model for all smokers.
Should be easy. Six months should be plenty of time to take care of it all.
Poor guy.

It's tough for a mortal to meet messianic expectations.
Noel, you're exactly right.
I think it just shows how desperate we are for a change.
On the plus side, it would be hard for him to screw things up any worse than they already are.
I would say his position is not unlike being the new coach for the Detroit Lions.
The only thing that would be bad for Obama is if he really isn't able to turn things around as people wish. 4 years really isn't that long, considering his to-do list.
Oh, and if he ends up losing his presidency because he's not really a citizen. That would be bad, too.:)
You people have no faith.
He is the Great and Powerful Obama and he can do anything.
Wow, this looks like a conversation I should shy away from. Honestly, I think he has been showing some good bipartisanship (?) so that is encouraging.
Unfortunately, he has to work with a senate and congress that didn't change all that much. The POTUS may want to do a lot of things but if those other 536 don't want it to happen, it's not going to.
It will happen when the majority of those 536 figure out how they will benefit from whatever.

Oooh, I love it! Maybe I should delve into politics more often! Thanks, everyone, for being so civil.
