This is one of my favorite hymns, and we sang it in church this morning! It basically summarizes the gospel message, and then wraps it up with this verse, which always makes me choke up with thankfullness.
No guilt in life, no fear in death—
This is the pow'r of Christ in me;
From life's first cry to final breath,
Jesus commands my destiny.
No pow'r of hell, no scheme of man,
Can ever pluck me from His hand;
Till He returns or calls me home—
Here in the pow'r of Christ I'll stand.

This song always impacts me whenever we sing it. Since I was playing keyboard, I heard it at both services. At the first service, the words didn't really register because I was just thinking abut the notes I was playing. At the second service I was feeling discouraged about all that needs to be changed in my life ("Why bother with New Year's resolutions! I always return to my old ways."). Then I sang the first line of the song: "In Christ alone, my hope is found," and I realized that summarizes all that matters in my life (although the rest of the lyrics are great, too)! On my own, I have no hope of change, but thanks be to God, the power of Christ is in me! Hallelujah!
BTW, Aaron really cracks me up at worship team practice - he's hilarious! During the second service this morning I was talking with Diane and Annette, and Aaron was sitting nearby. I asked Diane and Annette whether they were wearing Laura Ashley shirts (they were), and then we oohed and aahed about how much we like that brand. Overhearing our conversation, Aaron exclaimed that if Liz had told him it was Laura Ashley day, he could have worn it, too! LOL!
