And as I briefly described this scene to Mom, she was giving me this LOOK. That look that says, "Who ARE you?" Until I reminded her of her stacks of boxes of quilting fabric. THEN she got it!
I think part of the appeal of scrapbooking for me is the materials themselves. I know that I will never catch on to online scrapbooking, cause "point & click" is just not as much fun as "snip & tape". It's tactile. And real. And doesn't involve a computer.
Quilters get it. They don't just buy fabric for one quilt. They buy fabric they love and hope to make a quilt...someday...that will use it. I don't really know about other crafts or hobbies. And this may just be a girl thing...I don't know if guys stock up on wood or car parts...wait. YES. They DO! Or at least the guys I'M related to.
So tell me, do you stockpile? What is it? Where is it? How do you justify it? Sometimes I think I shouldn't buy any more paper or stickers until I use up everything I already have. But that's just SILLY. What if that next pack has the PERFECT thing for this page?

OMG! Stockpiling is one term for what I've done for years.. I've gone a bit overboard since I'm still searching for my "favorite hobby" or something I'm "passionate" about. So, in my search for life's happy bliss, I've accumulated supplies for painting all sorts of mediums (including walls), needle point, quilting, sewing (not to mention the machines, all three of them plus a serger!), stamping and paper crafting, beading, polymer clay, buttons, and of course, there's the scrapbooking supplies... the list doesn't end there unfortunately. I would love to complete any project pertaining to the above supplies but find myself lacking the time and ambition, not to mention the space required to actually pursue one.
So, in answer to your question, YES I do it, I keep it anywhere and everywhere. With the upcoming arrival of child #4, I have realized that my time is already stretched thing enough so I've refrained from adding to my piles, but don't think it's been easy. And, with the walls of my home seeming closer and closer, I honestly don't think I'd have a place to put all the stuff.
I have them all over the house Liz! I don't know when I will have time to sort or organize my stockpiles. Maybe when its actually warm in Fargo even though the weather has nothing to do with it...
I am totally a pattern and fabric stockpiler. AND before children, I loved to organize them. I totally get it :)
I'm with you on the Scrapbooking stockpile. I have been accumulating it for years but there is always something new that I just love. Thankfully I get to a couple retreats a year or I would never use any of it. If you get tired of organizing yours, you are welcome to come organize mine anytime. I love your blog!
